My usually reserved and reticent grandfather can pull out some quirky but amusing remarks...I just have to pay attention closely.

Mom: Yesterday was my husband's birthday. He just turned 60.
My 80-year-old Grandpa: What? *turns to my dad and says nonchalantly* Oh. Congrats.
(His terse remark instigated an uproar of laughter among us young ones.)

Regarding our President's speech at a local elementary school in Taiwan...
Grandpa: What does he mean when he says "I consider you all as persons" when these kids already are?!
Touche, touche.
